Psych! No you don't, you need to go to the gym. But how do I workout after I just got through a long day of work, school, kids, ect or whatever? Here are some suggested tips.
1. Get mentally prepared.
If you get off at 5, and the gym class starts at 6:30 so you have to eat change then drive up there...about 30min before leaving work, get your mind ready by thinking about the fact you are going to the gym. If you can, get dressed a little early, skim through a clothing magazine, I suggest Victorias Secret, and see that you aren't motivated now!
2. Think of those released Endorphins!
When you exercise your body releases endorphins, this feel good chemical. (It almost has the same feel good sensation of after sex). CANT BEAT THAT!
3. Do what you want, do what feels right!
Making a gym schedule before the start of each week keeps you organized and on task with your workouts. HOWEVER...I find myself changing my mind at the last minute based on how I feel. If you're tired, swim for 30min of cardio, then do 1hr yoga class, if you have energy, do a bootcamp class or cycling or run, if you feel fat, do some abs and cardio, if your really angry at someone, do kickboxing, or zumba will just help you release that frustration.
4. Exercise is your stress reliever
Think of all the stresses in your life, kids, school, work, assignments, deadlines ect and take it all out in your workout. Maybe write them down, go workout, then see how you feel afterward, you'll feel victorious like you can conquer the rest of the week or day because you got through another workout.
5. Time for yourself
When you exercise that is the time for yourself. It is a perfect excuse to tell him or her "I'll call you later, turn the phone off, tell them to leave you alone, tell people your busy. In fact lie, to lie is great. If the gym class is from 5:30-6:30 and you're going to do some abs afterward, lie and tell them not to call you until 8pm. In fact, sometimes during the day if someone I don't want calls, I'll call back later and say, "Sorry, was at the gym." Works for me!
Exercise can be the perfect ending to your day. Go home, eat, read, homework, lay out clothes, put the kids to sleep, chill, then fall asleep and get up for the next day!
